Two kinds of fees come out of a sale: a payment processing fee charged by Stripe or Paystack, and the Shopstar fee that depends on the plan you are on.
Payment processing fees
Stripe and Paystack each charge a small fee per transaction. The exact rate depends on the card type, the customer country, and your provider. Both providers publish their rates on their websites, and their dashboards show the fee that applied to each individual transaction.
Shopstar fees
Your Shopstar fee depends on your plan. On the Commission Only plan you pay no monthly fee, just a commission on each sale. On the Subscription Plan you pay a monthly fee and a lower commission. Either way, the fee is calculated per-order and netted out before your payout.
See your fees in the dashboard
Click your avatar, then Billing, and switch to the Transactions tab. You will see a row per paid order with these columns: Gross (what the customer paid), Shopstar fee (what we took for that order), Refunded (any refunds), and Net (what is yours). Click a row for the full breakdown of a single transaction.
- See your current plan and your Shopstar invoice from Billing > Overview and Billing > History

- See payment provider fees in your Stripe or Paystack dashboard
No surprise fees
Every fee on every order is shown to you in plain numbers. We do not charge listing fees, hidden fees, or fees for features that come with your plan.
Frequently asked questions
Are there transaction fees on refunds?
Some processors do not refund the payment fee when you refund the customer. Others do. The Billing Transactions tab shows the original Shopstar fee and any refunded portion side by side so you can see exactly what came back.
Can I pass the fee on to the customer?
You can do this indirectly by working it into your prices, or by adding a small handling line item at checkout. We do not separately charge the customer a card fee.
What if I want to switch plans?
Open Billing from your avatar menu. The Overview tab shows your current plan with a button to switch — moving between Commission Only and the Subscription Plan takes effect from your next billing cycle.
