Write and publish your store policies

Refund, shipping, and privacy policies build trust and protect your store.

Clear policies make customers more comfortable buying from a store they have not heard of before. They also save you a lot of back-and-forth questions over email.

The policies your store can publish

  • Returns and refunds — set expectations for returns, exchanges, and refunds
  • Shipping policy — detail shipping methods, costs, and delivery timeframes
  • Privacy policy — explain how you collect, use, and protect customer data
  • Terms and conditions — the rules and guidelines for using your store
  • Cancellation policy — for booking products, the rules for cancellations, no-shows, and rescheduling

Publish your policies

  1. 1

    Open Store, then Policies

In the sidebar, click Store, then switch to the Policies tab at the top of the page. You will see a card per policy with a status badge — Not Set Up, Enabled, or Disabled.

  2. 2

Open a policy with Set Up or Edit

Click Set Up on a policy you haven't started yet, or Edit on one you've already drafted. The editor opens with a rich text area for the policy copy.

  3. 3

    Start with our friendly template

Click Reset to default to drop in warm, easy-to-read default copy instead of starting from a blank page. Edit it to match your business — your refund window, the countries you ship to, and how to contact you.

  4. 4

    Save and turn it on

Click Save when you are happy. Use the policy status controls to mark it Enabled so it goes live on your storefront. The status updates back on the Policies tab so you can track which ones are still drafts.

Templates are a starting point

Our templates are not legal advice. If you sell internationally, in regulated industries, or to children, get the policies checked by a lawyer in your country.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to offer refunds?

It is a great way to build trust, and in many countries some form of refund is required by law. Make your policy clear so there are no surprises.

Where do customers see my policies?

They are linked from your storefront footer and appear on the checkout page so customers can read them before buying.

Can I change my policies later?

Yes. Update them anytime and the new version is published instantly. Existing orders are still governed by whatever policy was active when they bought.
