Your checkout is where browsers turn into buyers. A few smart additions — like a free shipping bar or a well-placed upsell — can lift your conversion rate without changing anything about your products.
Open your checkout settings
In the sidebar, click Store, then Checkout. You will see six on/off settings for the most effective conversion features. Switch on the ones you want, tune the values, and save.
What each option does
- 1
Upsell prompts
Suggest higher-value alternatives or complementary products at checkout. Pick when to show them — based on cart value, number of items in the cart, or how many past orders the customer has placed — and set the matching threshold (a currency amount or a count).
- 2
Cross-sell suggestions
Recommend frequently bought together items at checkout, based on what is already in the cart. Great for accessories or matching products.
- 3
Free shipping progress bar
A friendly bar that shows how close the cart is to qualifying for free shipping. Set the minimum order amount and customers will often add another item to hit it.
- 4
Exit offer
When a shopper looks like they are about to leave, show a final promo. Pick one of your active promo codes from the list — the offer applies that code if the customer stays.
- 5
Urgency messaging
Show a short message you write — for example, "Order in the next hour for same-day shipping" — to encourage faster checkout. The wording is up to you, so keep it honest. (This is a static message, not a live stock counter.)
- 6
Trust badges
Show security icons and payment provider logos at checkout to reassure first-time buyers.
Turn things on one at a time
Switch on one feature at a time and watch your conversion rate over a few days before adding the next. That way you know which one made the difference.
Customer-friendly by default
These features are designed to feel helpful, not pushy. Your storefront will only show messages when they are relevant and clear.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to set up a promo code for the exit offer to work?
Yes. Create the code in Discounts first and make sure it is active. Then turn on the exit offer here and pick that code from the list — only active promo codes appear in the picker.
Can I run an upsell on a specific product?
Upsell prompts pick a recommended product based on what is in the cart, not on a single product you choose. Keep your collections and product details tidy so the suggestion lands on something relevant.
Does the urgency message update with my stock levels?
Not automatically — it shows the exact message you write. If you want it to feel honest during a real low-stock period, edit the wording or switch it off when stock is healthy again.
Will these slow down my checkout?
No. Each option loads quickly and is dismissed easily. If the customer ignores a prompt, they continue straight to pay.
